Located
in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Amber Cove is still a relatively new port,
but offers just as much as the ones that have been around for many
years.
On our stop at Amber Cove, we decided to stay close to the ship, as there was
enough to do to keep us occupied for hours. Just within walking distance
of the ship, we found a spot where we were able to enjoy the pool, eat some
local food, and do some ziplining! With the entrance being free, we were
able to go on the zipline as many times as we liked, eat a nice sized lunch,
and enjoy a couple adult beverages for under $75 total for 3
people.
We then walked around the port, learning about the history of Puerto
Plata. Afterwards we headed to the shopping area, located within walking
distance. The shops at the port were all nice, clean, and reasonably
priced. The vendors were pleasant, and did get too pushy trying to make a
sell. Other passengers on our cruise tried the beach horseback riding,
and Damajagua Falls excursions. Each got good reviews.
Our favorite part about our stop at Amber Cove: Unlimited Ziplining, for
only $20 per adult, $10 per child.
